Apparatus for transporting nuclear reactor components e.g. fuel units, heat exchangers, etc. into and out of the reactor safety vessel 4 comprises a cylindrical chamber 8 mounted vertically in the side wall of the vessel 4. The top and base of the chamber 8 each have a sealable opening which allows a reactor component to be transported through the wall of the safety vessel 4, while disposed vertically, by means of a rotatable platform 13 mounted on the base of the chamber 8. The chamber 8 is divided vertically by a partition 12 carried by the platform 13 so providing a lock chamber. <IMAGE> |
