FILTER REGENERATING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To perform combustion of particulate with high efficiency, in a system wherein particulate contained in exhaust gas discharged from a diesel engine are collected by a filter and heat and burnt by microwaves. CONSTITUTION:A filter regenerating device for an internal combustion engine comprises an antenna 33 arranged to a heating chamber 18 and detecting the intensity of an electric field of a high frequency in a heating chamber; and a control part 34 to control a high frequency generating device 24 and a blast means 26 based on a detecting signal from the antenna 33. The antenna 33 is arranged at a position spaced away from a wall surface C21 mounted on an intake part for exhaust gas and D22 mounted on an exhaust part by a distance longer than a wavelength being 1/4 of a working high frequency. This constitution performs accurate detection of particulate and effects high-efficiency combustion.
