摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To conduct processing in regard to a necessary area alone without being disturbed by the information of a preceding vehicle according to an inter-vehicle distance by processing the image information of the preceding vehicle of a narrow processing area in the case of an inter-vehicle distance being small, on the basis of inter-vehicle distance information, at a lane recognizing portion, widening the processing area according to the increase of the inter-vehicle distance. CONSTITUTION:The image information of a preceding vehicle C exists at the lower part of a screen 64 in the case of an inter-vehicle distance D being short, and is moved upward following the increase of the inter-vehicle distance D, and thereupon, at a lane recognizing portion 61b, constitution is made so that a processing area E on the screen 64 may be able to be brought up aptly with the information of the inter- vehicle distance D of an inter-vehicle distance detecting means 61c detection as a parameter by means of a setting command portion 63. That is, the image is taken in from a stereo-view camera 1, and on the basis of the information of the inter-vehicle distance D from the setting command 63, the processing area E is determined. The processing area E at this time becomes a part which the inter-vehicle distance D shows by, for example, oblique lines of 30m. Afterwards, by commanding to an image processing portion a processing area, lane position information is obtained.</p>
