The light source in a contact printer comprises a transparent cylinder 12 mounted between aperturedendwalls 14, 16, and containing a perforated hollow tubular member 22 so that the cylinder and the member form an annular air chamber in which are mounted a plurality of elongated fluorescent lamps 30, there being an air suction device 26 drawing air into the member 22, hence there is a stream of cooling air past the lamps. The hollow member 22 is preferably made of aluminium and acts as a reflector. The lamps are mounted on flanges 28 carried by the member 22. During use, a diazo-type copy paper and an original are carried past the cylinder 12 by a conveyer belt 34. |
