PURPOSE:To obtain a material for a thermoelectric element usable even at a high temp. and to improve the thermoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:A carbon-boron carbide sintered compact produced using boron carbide powder and carbon powder and/or a carbonizable binder component is used as a material for a thermoelectric element. The sintered compact has 0.01-40 mass % boron content and <=4X10<-5> OMEGA.m resistivity and the objective thermoelectric element is made of the sintered compact.
