Lubricant compsn. comprises (1) triglyceride of formula (I) (R1-3 = 6-24C aliphatic hydrocarbyl having at least 60% unsaturated character); (2) transesterification produce of natural triglyceride of formula (I) (R1-3 = 6-24C aliphatic) and R4OH (R4 = 1-10C aliphatic or 6-50C opt. substd. aromatic); (3) pour point depressant; (4) at least one performance additive selected from (i) alkyl phenol of formula (II) (R11 = 1-24C alkyl; a = 1-5); (ii) benzotriazole of formula (III) R12 = H or 1-24C alkyl); (iii) phosphatide of formula (IV) (R13, 14 = 8-24C aliphatic hydrocarbyl; G = -CH2CH2NH3+, -CH2CH2N(CH3)3+ or -CH2CH(NH3+)CO2H); (iv) thiocarbamate of formula R15SCSNR16R17 (R15 = 1-24C alkyl, phenyl, or alkylphenyl with 1-18C alkyl gp.; R16,17 = H or 1-6C alkyl-but are not both H); (v) citric cpd. of formula (V) (R18-20 = H, 1-12C aliphatic hydrocarbyl or 6-50C opt. substd. aromatic - provided that at least one is aliphatic); etc. and opt. (5) at least one oil selected from (i) ester reaction product of R54CO2H (R54 = 4-24C hydrocarbyl) or HO2CCH2(CH2)mCHR55CO2H (R55 = H or 4-50C hydrocarbyl; m = 0-6) with R56(OH)n (R56 = 1-24C hydrocarbyl; n = 1-6); (ii) mineral oil; (iii) poly(alpha olefin); and (iv) vegetable oil. |
