The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for glazing ceramic articles. In the previously known processes, the articles were held by their base and were dipped into a glaze bath. Subsequently, the glaze at the edge of the open side always had to be removed on so-called glaze removal bands, for which an additional transport process and thus a transport apparatus were necessary. This transport and glaze-removal procedure can be omitted, when, as provided for according to the invention, the edge of the open side of the ceramic article is directly in apposition with the glaze pot during glazing.
