The invention pertains to a toejaw for a safety ski binding with a casing (1) that attaches to a ski and with two two-armed angle levers (4a, 4b) that are pivotably mounted on a common bearing pin (5) that is subjected to a forward tensile force with at least one release spring (7) mounted in the casing. This release spring (7) is supported at its front end on a front spring support (8), from which a tension piece (6) mounted on the front spring support (8) passes outside the release spring (7) to the bearing pin (5). This release spring (7) is pretensioned using a screw bolt (10) which is mounted to the front face of the casing (1) and on which the front spring support (8) is mounted for longitudinal displacement, the screw bolt being arranged within the release spring in a per se known manner and having a threaded connection to a back spring support (9) on which the back end of the release spring is supported.
