A compound fishhook having a first hook (12) having a first shank (16) with spaced ends, a first eye (20) at one of the shank ends, and a first bend (22) at the other shank end; a second hook (14) having a second shank (36) with spaced ends, a second eye (38) at one of the second shank ends, and a second bend (42) at the other second shank end; and structure (52, 54) for maintaining the first and second shanks in adjacent relationship at a location remote from the first and second eyes with one of the first and second eyes directed through the other of the second eyes with the first and second eyes with the first and second hooks in operative relationship.
