<p>The present invention relates to nitrogen fixation comprising oxidation of boron nitride for forming boron oxide, nitrogen oxides and nitrogen. Boron nitride is oxidized at 850-1100 °C with an oxigen containing gas comprising 0-95 vol % N2 and 5-100 vol % O2. The nitrogen oxides formed during oxidation of boron nitride can be reacted with water or dilute nitric acids for producing nitric acid. The boron oxide formed during oxidation of BN can be nitrided to boron nitride in the presence of a reductant and N2 and the total process can be carried out as a cyclic process.</p> |
