The present invention relates to polymers with an extended system of conjugated double bonds constructed as homo and/or heterocyclic rings which are interlinked in pairs so that one ring is joined to the neighbouring one at two adjacent atoms in the ring, in which one of these connections is made by a chemical bond to a ring atom of the neighbouring ring and the other via a carbon, nitrogen, oxygen or sulphur atom to an atom of the neighbouring ring adjacent said ring atom, their production and use in electrical, electronic and opto-electronic components.
