With the invention, a mobile telephone MT is proposed which, for the purposes of preventing harmful effects on the body of the user and his immediate surroundings due to high electromagnetic radiation power levels and resulting high radiation densities, can be temporarily electrically disconnected and mechanically separated into a transceiver component 1 and a listen/talk component 2, both components 1, 2 being able to be placed at a considerable distance from one another and communicating with one another via wire-free means, using opto-electronic, e.g. infrared-optical, or sub-radio methods at the lowest level which is harmless to the human body.
