Substituted purine nucleoside analogs and method for treating endotoxin shock

A method of treatment of mammals to prevent the deleterious effects of endotoxin and endotoxin shock mediators is disclosed. This method comprises administering to the mammal a safe and effective amount of a compound which inhibits LPS-induced GTPase activity, such as 2-MeS-ATP and 2-C1-ATP.
