<p>Compounds and methods are disclosed for treating Sickle Cell Anemia by preventing or inhibiting the severity and/or frequency of the crises, including pain or related complications, associated with this disease. There are also disclosed compounds and methods for inhibiting erythrocyte sickling in a patient. The methods of this invention involve the administration of an effective amount of pantethine, pantetheine or a derivative thereof to the patient by, for example, parenteral or oral administration.</p> |
