HUMAN ACTIVATED PROTEIN C PREPARATION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A human activated protein C preparation having a high specific activity and being substantially free from thrombin or equivalent protease and/or nonactivated protein C. The preparation has a specific activity higher than 3500 V/mg in the test wherein the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) serves as an index. The production process is based on the method of purifying a human activated protein C by activating protein C with thrombin, etc., bringing a solution containing the activated protein C into contact with a cation exchanger to adsorb the thrombin and the activated protein C, and eluting only the activated protein C.
