The invention relates to the field of measuring the spectral composition of electromagnetic radiations and colour measurement and has the object of providing a method and an arrangement without complicated parallel measuring units and mechanical setting devices which are susceptible to faults. According to the invention, one or more radiation detectors (SD) are exposed to the radiation (AST) to be analysed from a radiation source (ASQ), the number of radiation detectors being smaller than the number of the wavelength reference points to be obtained, and the spectrum to be analysed being reproduced from the measured values obtained by means of a computer (SRR), using suitable evaluation algorithms. The spectral composition of the radiation to be analysed is controlled by means of radiation modulators (SM) in front of the radiation detectors. By means of electric manipulated variables (ESG) generated by the computer, the spectral sensitivity of the radiation detectors and/or the transmission spectra of the radiation modulators can be varied continuously. The radiation detectors and/or the radiation modulators can be exposed to an additional controllable monitoring radiation (KST) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
