<p>A digital liquid level sensing apparatus (10) for detecting variations in the dielectric of a liquid being sensed. The apparatus (10) includes a capacitive element array (14) including a plurality of individual, i.e., segmented, input plates (14a1-14a12) positioned along an axis of measurement of the liquid being sensed and a common output plate (14b) having a length sufficient to span the entire accumulated length of the input plates (14a1-14a12). In alternative preferred embodiments, urometers (100, 150) incorporate the liquid level sensing apparatus (10) in a manner which allows either a portion of the level sensing apparatus to be discarded after use (Fig. 6) or the entire sensing apparatus (10) saved while just the reservoir (155) is discarded (Fig. 8).</p> |
