TUBULAR PLASTICS FOIL, ITS USE AND ITS METHOD OF PRODUCTION

An extruded tubular plastics foil (3) suitable for heat-shrinking comprises crosslinked polyethylene (X-PE) as base polymer to which portions of one or a plurality of fillers reducing tensile strength, portions of at least one polar olefinic copolymer, portions of at least one cling agent and portions of various stabilisers are added by mixing. Apart from the polyethylene, the compound components can be added both individually and as a batch to a polymer, and a colour concentrate can be added as a pigment or as a batch. The invention further includes the use of portions of the tubular plastics foil for adhesively surrounding substantially circular single or multi-part objects, or objects having a peripheral gap (5), by narrowing the tube width under the effect of heat. Further features of the invention relate to a method of producing the tubular plastics foil, by extruding the tube from the compound components in powder and/or granule form, followed by crosslinking of the extruded tube, subsequent expansion to the desired internal dimension and freezing of the resultant shape.
