PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH PINKING REGULATION

A process and device are disclosed for controlling exhaust gas temperature in an internal combustion engine (10) with pinking regulation by modifying the air/fuel mixture supplied to the engine depending on retarded ignition adjustments of the kind carried out by a pinking regulation system (15) in order to avoid pinking. The more the ignition timing is retarded, the richer the mixture. Enrichment of the mixture is modified in a selective manner for each cylinder depending on the corresponding retarded ignition adjustment in each cylinder (11.1 - 11.4). Local thermal overstress of the engine and exhaust gas manifold may thus be reliably avoided.
