Hazard warning flashing system for motor vehicles

Conventional hazard warning flashing systems on motor vehicles permit all the flashing lights on the vehicle to flash at the same time, in which case, if one side of the vehicle is concealed, the hazard warning flashing system cannot be distinguished from the flashing of the direction indicators. If the hazard warning flashing system of the vehicle flashes with another sequence which is clearly different from the normal 1:1 = on:off sequence or with different colours or with different levels of brightness, any road user knows that this is a hazard warning flashing system even if one half of the vehicle is concealed. When conventional hazard warning flashing systems are switched on, vehicles which are towing or being towed cannot indicate a change in the direction of travel. The hazard warning flashing system described above permits this however by one side flashing normally to indicate turning (1:1 = on:off) while the other side continues to flash as a hazard warning flashing system in accordance with the described characterisation.
