<p>The plates are produced by (a) depositing on the surface of lipophilic metal sheet, areas of printing images comprising a second lipophilic metal, (b) treating the remaining free surface of the first metal with a compn. which chemically reacts to form a water insol. hydrophilic compd. of the first metal without affecting the images due to the second metal and (c) treating the printing image areas with a lipphilisation compd. which increases their respectivity to printing inks and does not affect the hydrophilic portion of the surface. Cu or Cu alloys are prefd. first metal and Ag is prefd. second metal. The plates can be re-used many times and do not require major special treatment before use.</p> |
