1318456 Glycerine and its diesters DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 28 Aug 1970 [30 Aug 1969] 41446/70 Heading C2C A diester of glycerine of the formula where R1 and R2 each independently represent a C 1-5 alkyl radical is prepared by reacting an allyl ester of the formula with a peracid of the formula R1.CO.OOH at elevated temperature, preferably 40-90‹ C., in the presence of the corresponding carboxylic acid of the formula R1COOH, and optionally, if desired, subjecting the glycerine diester obtained after separation of unreacted allyl ester and carboxylic acid to alcoholysis (e.g. with methanol) or aqueous hydrolysis to produce glycerine. Preferably R1 and R2 are each methyl radicals.
