PURPOSE:To provide the shutter mechanism which eliminates trouble occurrence by prevention against medium insertion as to a shutter mechanism which automatically shuts when a medium handling unit is drawn out. CONSTITUTION:The shutter mechanism which shuts an insertion opening 5 when the medium handling unit 9 which is mounted horizontally slidably on an automatic teller machine 1 and has its front end abutting on the insertion opening 5 for a medium 4 provided vertically on the front of the device is drawn out backward is equipped with a shutter 12 which has one end supported rotatably on a support shaft 13 provided inside the insertion opening 5 and the other end energized by an elastic member 14 wound around the support shaft 13 toward the other end part of the insertion opening 5 and a traction member 15 which is flexible and formed in a linear or beltlike shape and has one end fixed to the other end of the shutter 12 and the other end coupled with the medium handling unit 9 through a pulley 17; when the medium handling unit 9 moves forth and the front end abuts on the insertion opening 5, the shutter 12 is towed and positioned below the medium handling unit 9 and when the medium handling unit 9 moves back, the shutter 12 is released from being towed to shut the insertion opening 5. |
