A cylindrical metal drum has circumferential beads 13 and furrows 14 over substantially its entire length. The beads 13 in the end portions 16 near end seams 12 are of progressively decreasing diameter and the parts 16 of the side wall 10 joining to the end walls 11 are offset radially inwards with respect to the beads in the central portion 15. As shown, the furrows 14 also decrease in diameter and the end portions 16 of the side wall 10 adjacent to the seam 12 are inset from the furrows in the central portion 15. |
