CARBON DIOXIDE SEPARATING GELATINOUS MEMBRANE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To improve low aging stability of a separating membrane (liq. membrane) contg. a CO2 carrier as the most remarkable defect of the membrane, to solve the problem of difficulty in holding the membrane in the state of a thin film and to produce an acceleratedly CO2 transporting membrane put to practical use. CONSTITUTION:This CO2 separating gelatinous membrane is made of a hydrogel membrane formed by absorbing an aq. soln. contg. a CO2 carrier in a vinyl alcohol-acrylate copolymer having a crosslinked structure. This membrane is produced as follows; an aq. soln. of an uncrosslinked vinyl alcohol-acrylate copolymer is applied on a CO2 permeable substrate in the form of a film, the copolymer is crosslinked and made insoluble by heating and an aq. soln. of a CO2 carrier is absorbed in the insoluble copolymer to gelatinize the copolymer.
