1,150,835. Hollow bodies. B. KIRSCH. 21 June, 1967 [1 July, 1966], No. 28731/67. Heading B5A. Hollow bodies having angularly disposed cavities are produced by applying a fibrecontaining, unhardened, resilient plastics material around separate rigid mandrels, e.g. in mats or strips and fastening it thereon, connecting at least two mandrels to form a composite moulding core, loading the core into a mould, and hardening the material therein. The core may comprise several mandrels angularly located to provide angularly disposed cavities in the product. As shown in Fig. 5, the mould halves 12, (11, not shown) co-operate around core 3 wrapped with the plastics/fibre material, formed of mandrels 14-17 and supported by supporting mandrel 22 on surface 25 thereof. The mould is then compressed, distributing the material throughout the mould, mandrel 22 then being rotated to squeeze material into the mould. Various core shapes are illustrated in Figs. 11-18 (not shown). |
