PURPOSE:To provide the miniaturized optical fiber coupler which is adequate for coated optical fiber ribbons and is reduced in the occupying area to be occupied by plural pieces of coupler bodies. CONSTITUTION:The coupler bodies formed by fusing and stretching plural optical fibers are respectively housed in a recessed part of a protective case 4 which is square columnar shape and has the recessed part in a longitudinal direction on one surface or plural pieces of the coupler bodies are housed respectively into protective pipes which are then collectively housed into the recessed part of the protective case 4. Multifiber connectors 7, 7 for the coated tape ribbons are disposed at leads 6a, 6b... extending to outside the protective case from the fusion stretched parts of the coupler bodies and are respectively rearranged to a ribbon form. As a result, the optical fiber coupler 1 made smaller in size than the conventional couplers is produced. |
