PURPOSE:To provide a detector for abrasion of slide bearing in a rotating machine, in which an abrasive reduction in sectional area of the bearing is detected through a change in inductance of a detection coil. CONSTITUTION:In a rotating machine, a spindle 13 rotating freely is supported by a slide bearing 12. A detector for abrasion of the slide bearing 12, in the rotating machine includes a detection coil 11 around the slide bearing part 12, a detection means for detecting a change in inductance of the detection coil 11 when a carrier signal at a frequency adequate for the material of the bearing part 12 is applied to the detection coil 11, an output display unit for displaying an output, a comparator for comparing an output signal from the detection means with a reference level, and an automatic operation stopping unit. Then, a quantity of abrasion detected as a change in inductance of the detection coil 11 can be displayed on the display unit, regardless of the operational state of the rotating machine. When the output signal from the detection coil 11 is over the reference level, the rotating machine is automatically stopped. |
