PURPOSE:To provide a detector for the state of insertion which enables the deriving of the shape of the insertion of an endoscope even when a stress is applied as caused by a bending operation and the operation of inserting the endoscope. CONSTITUTION:A protrusion 22 provided in a groove 21 at the tip part 4a of an endoscope is fixed in a fitting hole of a coil 10. The coil 10 is fixed at a bending piece by bonding or a protrusion or the like. As a result, even when a stress is applied as caused by a bending operation and the operation of inserting the endoscope, a positional deviation of the coil 10 is prevented to keep the positional interval between the coils accurately, thereby enabling the deriving of a correct shape of an endoscope inserting part.
