PURPOSE:To improve reliability and realize the high speed operation of the railway traffic by partially fusing a basic member and adding metal elements at the same time to the female screw part of a gear box made of aluminum alloy and using a female screw which is formed integral by constituting a high strength alloy layer only in a necessary part. CONSTITUTION:At the part where the mechanical endurance strength is demanded of a female screw 4 part of a gear box made of aluminum alloy of a gear device for railway rolling stock, a basic member 5 on the periphery of the demanded part is partially fused, using the high density thermal energy obtained through an electron beam working machine, laser working machine, etc., as heat soure. At the same time, the metal element such as nickel and copper which is suitable for the aluminum alloy basic member 5 is added in the form of a single alloy or several kinds of alloys, and a high strength alloy layer 6 is constituted only in a necessary part, and the integrally formed female screw 4 is formed. Accordingly, a bearing cover and the gear box which is made of aluminum alloy and has the strengthening-improved part through the formation of the high strength alloy layer 6 only in the necessary part can be obtained.
