<p>PURPOSE:To rapidly and accurately inform a driver of whether a vehicle comes into contact with the surface of an upward slope before the vehicle ascends the upward slope without relying on the experience or perception of the driver or requiring a guide. CONSTITUTION:The first distance sensor 21 horizontally attached to the lower part of the front end of a vehicle 10 so as to be directed forwardly detects the distance L1 up to the surface 14 of an upward slope in front of the advancing vehicle. The second distance sensor 22 attached to the lower part of the front end of the vehicle 10 so as to be downwardly inclined in the forward direction crossing the contact plane drawn from the lower part of the front end of the vehicle 10 to the outer periphery of a front wheel 15 at a right angle detects the distance L2 up to the surface of the upward slope. A controller 17 calculates the angle beta1 of inclination of the surface of the upward slope on the basis of the detection outputs of the first and second distance sensors 21, 22 and drives the alarm means 16 provided at a driver's seat when the angle beta1 of inclination is equal to or more than the min. angle alpha1 formed by the contact plane drawn from the lower part of the front end of the vehicle to the outer periphery of the front wheel and a horizontal road surface 23.</p> |
