The distance plug incorporates a shaft (10) with an enlarged head formed for anchoring by being driven down into a pre-drilled hole in a floor surface with the aid of a tubular end piece on an installation tool. The shaft has a rectangular cross-section which with its corner areas works in conjunction with the circular inner wall of the tool end piece. The rectangular cross-section extends along the complete length of the shaft. - The shaft in its end area has on opposite side surfaces triangular projections (12) for forming the head (11). The plug has constant thickness between two of its opposing main surfaces. The projections are arranged in pairs opposite one another. The projections when observed in plan view have the form of right-angled triangles which are connected to the shaft with their one small side and which are orientated with their hypotenuse turning towards the plug anchoring end.
