PURPOSE:To provide the color area division method and the electronic patterning device using the method in which an area having a complicated color spread is designated as an object area of color area division and a color area is easily divided suitable for a human color sense. CONSTITUTION:The color area division method dividing a color picture into plural areas based on a coloring characteristic includes a process S1 quantifying a coloring characteristic of each picture element of a color image, a process S3 sampling a predetermined number of color samples as to each of the plural areas, a process S4 quantifying a coloring characteristic of each color sample, a process S5 storing the value, a process S6 reading a picture element used to discriminate an area to be belonged, a process S7 accumulating a predetermined number of color samples in each of plural areas for a reciprocal of a difference between the value quantifying the coloring characteristic of the picture element and the value quantifying the coloring characteristic of the color sample in the area, and a process S8 discriminating an area maximizing the accumulated value for each area to be an area to which the picture element belongs. |
