The multi-purpose post (11) has a footplate (15) and a post part (14) which can be coupled to one another by means of a holding device (16). The post part (14) is designed as a prismatic hollow body, the cross-section of which is a regular polygon with an even number of polygon sides. In each prism surface (17 - 19), there is at least one penetration hole (21) in order to connect thereto barrier parts of different types.
