Pair of rigid handles 2 and 3 which can be placed against or incorporated into opposite faces of a box/tray 1 for automatic depthwise storage, characterized in that one of the handles is in the form of an inverted U 2 and the other handle is in the form of a normal U 3, such that the handle in the form of an inverted U of one box couples with the handle in the form of a normal U of a neighbouring box on the shelf, or vice-versa, with the result that all the boxes on one shelf are at the same level and linked. The handle in the form of a normal U has one or a number of notches 4 so that it can be picked up by customary entrainment systems. When the loads are of small or medium size, said handles are used to obtain automatic, easy and compact depthwise storage, with the boxes/trays customarily used in non-depthwise storage. <IMAGE>
