<p>Press consists of an upper mobile traverse, carrying a punch, coupled to a number of hydraulic jacks which are carried on the base. The jack motors are carried on the lower traverse which carries the matrix and may move horizontally on rails to facilitate placing of the blank in the press and its removal after the operation. The press is assembled by means of helicoidal threads on the jack motor rods which engage with corresponding threads in shock absorbers carried on the upper traverse. This construction is self-centering and prevents buckling of the upper traverse. It prevents torsion couples from being set up in the rods. It is of evenly distributed strength.</p> |
