Heading C2C l-Glycosyl-5-azacytosines of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a glycosyl residue, R<SP>2</SP> is a hydrogen. atom or an alkyl group and R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aralkyl group, are prepared by trimethylsilylizing a 5-azacytosine of the general formula treating the resulting trimethylsilyl or bis(trimethylsilyl) derivative with a per-acylglycosyi halide and subjecting the resulting 1-(peracylglycosyl)-5-azacytosine of the general formula wherein R<SP>5</SP> is a per-acylglycosyl residue, to alcoholysis or ammonolysis.</p> |
