Method for protecting against theft objects offered for sale in shops, consisting in enclosing the object to be protected in a housing (1, 2) which can be opened by means of a key (8) held by the cashier, the dimensions of said housing being designedly such that it cannot be concealed under the clothes of a dishonest person. The housing comprises two parts (1,2) assembled by means of a locking device requiring a key (8) to open it. One of the parts (1) may be made of a transparent material and encloses the object to be protected, while the other (2), forming the lid, is made of an opaque material so that the locking device is fully concealed. <IMAGE>
