The present invention relates to a device for the welding or cutting of plastic films or bags. This device essentially comprises a support (1) at the ends of which is mounted, so as to pivot, a U-piece (3) receiving a slide (6) controlled by a screw (7) in order to allow, simultaneously, the attachment, the setting to length and the tensioning of a heating wire (4) against the force exerted by a spring (10) for compensating for the elongation of the heating wire (4) caused by expansion.
