<p>A method and apparatus enabling direct manipulation of 3D surface objects on computer displays is described. This method and apparatus provides for a 3D virtual box enclosing a selected surface object wherein the 3D virtual box has sensitive areas which the user can select with a cursor such that when the user manipulates the cursor after selecting a sensitive area the 3D virtual box and the surface object within it are manipulated with direct kinesthetic correspondence between the user's manipulation of the cursor and the virtual box and surface object manipulation.</p> |
