The subject matter of the invention is a method for separating through screen glass tubes in the front part of the screen and in the cone part by formation of a local thermal stress zone. According to the invention, the tubes are heated to a predetermined temperature and are suddenly cooled down in their respective separating zone or thermal stress zone by means of at least one coolant jet, so that the cone part breaks off from the screen part. Subsequently, the screen parts and cone parts which have been separated from one another are taken away separately.
