Novel 1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyridines of the formula I <IMAGE> wherein R is <IMAGE> and R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> have the meanings indicated in Patent Claim 1, and their salts show angiotensin II-antagonistic properties and can be used for the treatment of hypertension, aldosteronism, cardiac insufficiency and increased intraocular pressure and of disorders of the central nervous system.
