A medium-voltage switching device has a vacuum switching chamber (1) and a drive device (7, 10, 11), an adjustable contact bolt (4), which is assigned to one of the switch contacts (2, 3), being coupled to a lever arm (6) of a two-armed rocker lever (7). The other lever arm (9) engages with an operating device (10, 11). The rocker lever (7) is provided in its central region with a rotating bearing (8). In order to be able to produce in a defined manner the contact force which is required to keep the switch contacts (2, 3) closed, the rotating bearing (8) is guided in a guide slot (14) such that it can be displaced transversely with respect to its rotation axis, and is held displaceably therein against the force of a contact force spring (15). <IMAGE>
