Crude hydrogen is freed of carbon dioxide and water vapour by passage through an absorber 2 after which the hydrogen is freed of methane and a portion of the carbon monoxide content by rectification at 3, the gaseous hydrogen effluent containing the residue of carbon monoxide is then passed through a methanator 4 in which the CO is converted to methane and the resulting mixture of hydrogen and methane is rectified at 3 and gaseous hydrogen together with some gaseous methane is withdrawn as product.</p> |
