The invention relates to a decentralized ventilation apparatus with heat recovery, which is preferably designed as a one-room ventilation apparatus and in which the supply air is selectively cooled and heated. According to the invention, the heat recovery takes place by means of heat pipes designed in plate form. The heat pipes are impinged by two separate airstreams running in opposite directions, heating of the airstreams taking place in the upper region of the heat pipes and cooling of the airstreams taking place in the lower region. The directions of flow are controlled as a function of the temperature difference of the airstreams.
