Sound-absorbing bodies

These sound-absorbing bodies are materials which are to be machined mechanically, in particular metal strip, plates, cassettes (modules) and panels. These are to be given a specific shaping in order to be able to utilise structural and thus room-acoustic functions with a positive result. According to the invention, the material has various geometrical shapes in its cross-section. Extremely small openings of preferably less than 2 mm<2> are provided in the enlarged surface portion which has been produced. The individual shapes are formed as squares, rectangles, rhombuses or trapeziums and complex configurations of a combination thereof. The openings with their various shapes are provided in the material in a sunken manner, in an elevated manner and/or as a combination. In addition, a diaphragm is arranged - if required - at a defined distance from the sound-absorbing body.
