Self-grip elasticated bandage is woven from non-elastic warp and weft, with an additional warp of elastomer. A large number of loose non-elastic monofilament warp threads are additionally woven into the surface of the fabric, which in the relaxed state allows these threads to form loops. These can be gripped by the hook form surface of another fabric. The warp is pref. held on three separate beams, so that a polyamide or polyester, non-elastic (7,8) monofilament is woven with a double weft insert (9) of the same type of yarn. A separate beam of covered elastomer (6) or similar elasticated material is held at a stretched tension in the loom during weaving. USE - The self-grip elasticated bandage is employed in medical and orthopaedic conditions, so that the end of the bandage can be locked into the stretched position.
