A biomedical electrode comprising an adhesive and conductive polymer layer (6) intended for application on to the skin, and a covering layer (1, 1') which covers the polymer layer (6) remote from the skin and on which there is fastened an electrical connection element (3) projecting through the covering layer (1, 1') and producing a contact with the polymer layer (6), can be simply and inexpensively produced and is reliable in use because the covering layer (1, 1') is formed from a thermoplastic material and a cavity (7) is formed by a trough-shaped deformation of the thermoplastic material, the polymer layer (6) is inserted in the cavity (7) so as to adhere to the covering layer (1, 1') and the cavity (7) is delimited on all sides in parallel with the skin-facing surface of the polymer layer (6) such that the skin-facing surface (11) of the polymer layer (6) is continued in planar fashion by a non-conducting, adhesive layer. <IMAGE>
