USE OF AN AMPHOTERIC SURFACTANT AS A FRICTION-REDUCING AGENT

Amphoteric surfactants containing one or more, preferably one or two, monovalent hydrophobic groups forming a hydrophobic portion containing 10-36 carbon atoms; one or more, preferably one or two, primary, secondary or tertiary amine groups; and one or more, preferably one or two, carboxylic groups; and having a molecular weight of less than 1400, or a salt thereof, as a friction reducing agent in a water-base liquid system have been found have a friction reducing effect when added to water-base liquid system like heat transfer system.
