Method for filling refrigerators/freezers with an especially CFC-free refrigerant, in which, before filling, the compressor of the refrigerator/freezer and the connecting conduits are evacuated by connection to a vacuum pump, the refrigerant being stored in cartridges having a different filling quantity combinable to form any desired weight +/- a predetermined tolerance, the content of all the cartridges required for a specific filling quantity being jointly introduced into the evacuated compressor of the refrigerator/freezer via parallel connection of the valve block, and device for carrying out the method.
